Each session focuses on understanding the instructional skills assessed during the ADI Part 3 test.
Many PDIs believe that improving as an instructor simply means more time teaching in the car.
However, the ADI Part 3 test does not assess how well you drive.
It assesses how effectively you teach.
Examiners look for clear evidence that an instructor can:
• structure a lesson professionally
• identify real pupil learning needs
• manage and share risk effectively
• use questioning to develop pupil thinking
• demonstrate measurable learning progress
These sessions are designed to help PDIs develop a clearer understanding of the instructional skills required to pass Part 3 and deliver professional driving lessons.
Our instructor development sessions are delivered face-to-face in a classroom environment, allowing PDIs to properly understand how professional instruction works.
Each session includes:
• real lesson examples
• discussion of instructional principles
• practical teaching scenarios
• opportunity to ask questions
• clear explanation of professional teaching techniques
This approach helps PDIs develop confidence, understanding, and structured teaching ability.
To maintain a high standard of learning, sessions are limited to 8–10 PDIs only.
Small groups allow:
• greater interaction
• deeper understanding
• clearer explanations
• discussion of real teaching situations
This creates a professional learning environment where PDIs can develop their instructional skills more effectively.
We also offer female-only instructor development sessions for PDIs who prefer learning in a dedicated environment.
These sessions follow the same structured programme and are delivered in small groups.
Below you will find a list of available instructor development sessions and upcoming dates.
